Very interesting! I should look into that. Sorry about the late approval/response. Work got busy and life left little time for my hobby.

Interesting. As for wasted tiles, why do you need to store tiles you aren't using? If you built the map from the centre you could find the pixel coordinates from:
x=( ((c-1)(tileHeight/2)) + (b*(tileHeight/2)) ) + OriginX
y=(a * tileWidth) + OriginY

Where:
a,b,c are the 3 point hex tile coordinates
x, y are the pixel coordinates of the centre of the Hex tile
OriginX, OriginY are the X,Y coordinates of the pixel in the centre of the centre tile.

Unless I'm missing something I think that should build a hexagonal shaped map from Hex tiles, with no need for wasted tiles around the edge.

Heck yeah! Any suggestions, ideas, critiques or what have you is more than welcome, I'm looking forward to it. As for setting, I'm looking away from anything that could be considered stock sci-fi or fantasy. Not only has it been done to death and comes burdened with expectations, it gives my design the flexibility it needs to help work around my limited resources. Theme and setting will be theme of my next post or two.

Hi sir.
I am familiar with these star con 2's and rogues of which you speak.
I to would love to see them joined. But what about in a whole new setting?
I'd like to see something like Firefly... A blend of star wars and the old west...
Or something else! But not just the tired worlds of fantasy past.
Let me know if I can assist you in your endeavor.
Signed,
CJR
